CAPE WATCH is a new weekly feature we’re trying out here at Capeless Crusader. Over the last year, the bulk of our coverage and our regular ADVANCE SCOUT feature have focused on books outside of the super-heroic mainstream of comics. For 2014, we want to expand that focus and give some much-due attention to the quality titles coming out each week which don’t necessarily fit into our other features.
It is a perfect week to begin this feature, because every publisher is rolling out its big guns. Marvel is continuing with its All-New Marvel NOW! launch with several titles starting new arcs and the first issue of All-New Invaders hitting shelves, not to menton Peter David’s All-New X-Factor, Hickman’s Avengers and Avengers World and the runaway hit of 2013, Matt Fraction’s Hawkeye. DC comes out strong with the latest issues of Scott Snyder’s Batman, Azzarello’s and Chiang’s Wonder Woman, the second issue of Harley Quinn, and Geoff Johns’s Justice League which features the latest installment of the surprisingly-good Forever Evil event.
In case you couldn’t tell, there were a lot of good titles to choose from in picking our Top 5. That said, if you’ve got a limited number of dollars to spend at the comic shop or on the digital platform of your choice this week, the books we’ve selected should not disappoint!
Enjoy!
