WHAT IS ADVANCE SCOUT?
Each week, the Capeless Crew picks out those books that we think are most worthy of your dollars and attention. These books are chosen based on a variety of qualities, including relevance to real-world issues of the day, their sheer excellence as examples of the medium and often with an eye towards the importance of a given book within the context of the comics industry.
SITUATION:
It’s a point of pride for this site that we like to focus on titles from smaller publishers. With the exception of our first selection, which comes from DC’s (perhaps not-long-for-this world) Vertigo imprint, every title on this list is produced by an independent publisher. Outside of SAGA, which makes this list on sheer quality alone, each of these titles has a distinctly “street-level” approach, making them some of the most relevant books on shelves.
THIS WEEK’S SELECTIONS:
1. “100 Bullets: Brother Lono”

Clik here to view.Brian Azzarello set the world on fire with the original “100 Bullets”, a series that touched on the real-world problems of people living inside the gang culture of Chicago.
Azzarello and co-creator Eduardo Risso return for another pass, this time focusing on one of the most dynamic characters in the series, Brother Lono.
.
This title is sure to be packed full of action and intense character moments, so give it a look!
.
2. “Occupy Comics #2″

Clik here to view. The fantastic anthology series from Black Mask continues this month with another collection of vignettes from some of the best creators in comics.
The first issue was an unbelievable combination of stories that worked together to paint a beautiful picture of the different philosophies that created and sustained the Occupy movement, so this second issue is bound to be one you won’t want to miss.

5. SAGA Volume 2

ANALYSIS
Rarely in this space do we so completely fulfill our mission of bringing you a list of titles that you may not have known about, but are likely to love. While everyone probably knows about SAGA by now, every other book we’ve selected is one that your average comic shop reader probably doesn’t even know exists. You, lucky reader, get to be that person at your shop who will make the owner’s day by grabbing something totally off the radar. Welcome to the cool kids’ table.
